The objective of the Northern Recon Initiative (NRI) is to generate new, highly-prospective diamond projects in Canada's under-explored terrain. The NRI refers to the initial phase of Diamonds North's exploration process. Proprietary techniques are utilized to strategically identify new opportunities.

Previous Successes
In 2003, the NRI generated what is now the Amaruk mega-project joint venture with BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. The creation of this joint venture allowed Diamonds North to redirect vital funds and human resources into developing further opportunities -- without compromising its focus on the larger goal of owning 30-40% of an operating diamond mine.
In 2004, the ongoing success of the NRI propelled Diamonds North into the position of the largest diamond prospective explorer (with over 27 million acres) among all junior diamond exploration companies.
