Siku Project Update
|
|
News Release: 07-28
Vancouver, December 13, 2007-Diamonds North Resources (DDN: TSX.V) and Arctic Star Diamond Corp. (ADD: TSX.V) announce over 45 kimberlite targets have been identified on the Siku property in the Franklin Diamond District of Nunavut.
The partners completed over 17,500 line kilometres of airborne geophysics over the Siku property in late August. Due to the late completion date of the survey, only 10% of the geophysical data has been reviewed in a cursory fashion resulting in the identification of 45 targets for follow-up exploration in 2008.
Siku is located 110 kilometres from the community of Kugaaruk and partially surrounds 9 recently discovered kimberlites within the district.
The airborne survey was flown at 100 metre line spacing by Universal Wing Geophysics Corp. Final interpretation and drill target selection of the entire dataset will be completed over the next few months in preparation for the 2008 season.
Prior to the end of the exploration season, 4 targets selected from preliminary unleveled geophysical data were ground surveyed and subsequently drill tested using a lightweight reverse circulation drill. No kimberlite was intersected. Numerous targets remain to be tested. The Companies are planning for an extensive field program including drill testing 15 to 30 targets.
This program was part of an approved $1,500,000 exploration program for 2007. The Siku project is located in the Franklin Diamond District of Nunavut and Diamonds North is the project operator. Arctic Star Diamond Corp has an option to earn 50% interest in the property (See News Release NR06-32, October 2006)
G. Gill (P. Geo) and B. Kienlen (P. Geol) are Diamonds North's Qualified Persons, as defined under NI 43-101, responsible for project design and data review on this project.
