The Banks Island property has Ekati-Diavik size potential. The Ekati and Diavik Diamond mines are Canada's largest and most profitable diamond mines. Based on the presence of kimberlite indicator minerals, including a high proportion of Ekati--Diavik quality G10 garnets recovered from samples, the Company believes highly diamondiferous kimberlites could exist on the property.
To date, only 10% of the property has been surveyed with airborne geophysics. Approximately 65 anomalies have been identified, including several high-priority targets---one of which is a top priority 12 to 14 hectare target.
De Beers Canada Exploration Inc. is actively exploring several million acres in the region.
Update
In 2007, the Company completed airborne on an additional 30% of the project. The Company is evaluating the known high priority targets, including the 12 to 14 hectare geophysical anomaly, in preparation for a drill program
Banks Island has developed from a grassroots exploration project becoming one of the company's key properties, in a relatively short amount of time. It has emerged with the potential to become one of Canada's principal diamond discoveries.
